PARACHINAR, June 27: The security forces foiled an attack on a convoy of local people coming from Peshawar and arrested a militant in Bigan area of lower Kurram Agency on Monday.

The convoy carrying 300 persons was heading towards Parachinar, the headquarters of Kurram Agency, under army's security cover, according to sources. It was attacked by armed men near Bigan area, an official said. The security forces swung into action promptly and cordoned off the area and arrested an armed suspect while others managed to escape, the sources said. Journey to and from Kurram Agency has become a daunting task for the locals in the wake of increasing attacks and kidnapping for ransom by terrorists operating on the main Thall-Parachinar road.—Correspondent
