LAHORE, June 13: The police on Monday arrested three ‘hardened’ criminals under one-month detention orders (16-Maintenance of Public Order) and sent them to jail.

Sources privy to the ongoing operation against most active criminals and their protectors said that Shafqat alias Bagga Butt of Liaquatabad, Imran alias Munna of Sandah and Shahid Mehmood alias Shahid of Sham Nagar Chauburji were picked up from different city areas.

The detained suspects were involved in dozens of cases of murder, dacoity, narcotics, extortion, kidnapping and police encounter.

They said a detailed list of all those who patronized criminal activities had been prepared on the orders of Capital City Police Officer Malik Ahmad Raza Tahir and DIG (Operations) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar and police raids had been launched to pick such people under detention orders.

According to a high-profile list prepared by the operations police, Khawaja Tareef Gulshan alias Tifi Butt, Khawaja Aqeel alias Gogi Butt, Malik Ahsaan Kala alias Dai Wala, Shaukat Changar, Baber Butt, Abbas alias Basu, Usman Butt alias Munna, Kashif alias Kashi Baba, Malik Mudassir alias Malka, Shahbaz Nutt, Malik Rafique alias Boda, Rana Qurban Nambardar, Sikandar Butt alias Bahadara, Humayun alias Bhola, Mehmood alias Poma, Khurram Iqbal alias Khurmi, Waqas alias Waqasi and Abid Khan alias Bhalu are still at large and raids are being conducted to arrest them under three-month detention orders.

Sources said a majority of them were operating from underground locations and were supervising all criminal activities.

They said the criminal record of all such arrested people would be verified during the detention period which could be extended to two more months.

TRANSFERRED: Inspector General of Punjab Police Javed Iqbal has transferred and posted two senior superintendents of police.

According to a notification, Muhammad Faisal Rana, awaiting posting, has been posted Chuhng Police Training School deputy commandant against an existing vacancy.

Dr Usman Anwar, also awaiting posting, has been posted Punjab Counter Terrorism Department SSP against an existing vacancy.
