NOWSHERA, June 11: A man, his wife and two sons were gunned down at their home allegedly by their estranged relatives in the Azakhel Payan area here on the night between Friday and Saturday.

According to FIR registered at Azakhel police station, Nezamuddin in his dying declaration told the police that Gul Khan and Khalil, sons of Abdul Ghani, residents of Labour Colony, Aman Garh, entered his house during the night and started indiscriminate fire over the family. He said that his wife Kenkhba and sons Ghafaruddin and Islamuddin were killed on the spot.

Nezamuddin, who had received serious injuries in the attack, was rushed to the district headquarters hospital, Nowshera Kalan where he died after recording his dying declaration.

The police said both parties were relative but had an old enmity over women’s issues.

SUSPECTS HELD: The police claimed to have arrested 98 suspects and 10 proclaimed offenders and recovered illegal arms and ammunition from their possession during an operation launched near Nowshera’s border with Mardan and Swabi districts on the night between Friday and Saturday.

District Police Officer Quraish Khan told journalists on Saturday the police commandos and elite force cordoned off the area adjacent to Mardan and Swabi districts and launched a search operation against criminals.

He said the operation which started after midnight continued till 10am. He said that the police arrested 98 suspects, 10 proclaimed offenders and recovered 10 Kalashnikovs, 18 rifles, 22 guns, 41 pistols and hundreds of live rounds.
