In these difficult economic times I do not see any justification in holding un-neccessary sit ins and protests. Pakistanis need to change their mindset which is being plagued by so called media orators who are just doing their businesses in collaboration with certain foolish political agents. Pakistanis need to be honest to themselves first and see honestly into the helm of affairs. I recall the statement of US general saying that if Pakistanis want Jinnah’s Pakistan then they need to reform themselves. Look people very well know that we have derailed ourselves from the right track set up by the father of the nation. All those protesting these days very vocal like Jamat-i-Islami, Jamiat Ulema and Nawaz League(many members are Jamat-i-Islami ex) never took part in the movement of Pakistan rather they hurled abuses for those seeking separate homeland. How one can justify that these people today on the streets will ever do good for Pakistan. It is a simple question which our generations would ask us. We have to adopt a positive mindset look forward to a new future. Criticizing foreign powers for our own ills is nonsense. At first why we provide grounds for uncivlised acts secondly what we had done to stop extremism in the country. Why our civilised society is so much fearsome of extremist knowing that their agenda is based on wrong beliefs and they are misusing the Islamic notions for their own nefarious designs. They themselves have never adopted to a sincere thought and debate but have taken a militant way as it is easier to kill innocent and create fear among the masses. Now it is upto the masses to take decision and get on to these hypocrites and religiously corrupt who are a big hurdle in the way of your progress.

@ZIa: Well said. This is what has to be the thought of our nation. But i truly believe, if we try to bring change even on individual basis, we can bring a revolution for this nation. This is the time we really do something extraordinary. May ALLAH enlighten my people’s hearts with a will to change.

It seems a little demeaning to refer to this child of Pakistan’s as a “slum girl.” A nation’s dignity is gained in many ways, one of which is not by referring to our poor with such awful names.

  3. My heart goes out to realize that there must be millions of innocent souls like her across the subcontinent, where we stand today with our taxes heavily used to build up nuclear-arsenals and in the bank accounts of most of the corrupt leaders. I feel plundered at the agony of my people by my own !!!
