LAHORE, May 31: A 35-year-old man was tortured to death allegedly by his in-laws on Tuesday.

The police said Asif of Tariq Colony, Shahdara, had been living with his in-laws on Walton Road for the last eight months.

Some unidentified people informed his brothers on Tuesday morning that he was lying unconscious near Muslim Mosque in the Lohari Gate area. They took him to Mayo Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The family alleged that Asif was murdered by his in-laws over domestic issues. BURNT:

An eight-year-old girl died of burns at her home in Hanjurwal on Multan Road.

Quoting the family, the police said Shaista, daughter of Arshad, was present in the kitchen when her clothes caught fire. She was rushed to Mayo Hospital where she died. FIRES:

Valuables worth hundreds of thousands were reduced to ashes in three fire incidents on Tuesday.

The Rescue-1122 said short circuit was the cause of fire in at least two incidents.

A fire broke out in Saqlain's shop in Duty Free Plaza on Lawrence Road, gutting valuables and furniture worth Rs500,000.

A fire erupted in the house of Shahbaz in G-Block, Johar Town, burning down home appliances and furniture worth Rs100,000. Another fire broke out in the house of Faiz Gill in Javen Hatta Mohalla of Garden Town, reducing valuables worth Rs100,000 to ashes.
