SUKKUR, May 17: Two women lost their lives early Tuesday on the pretext of karo-kari.

Reportedly, some armed men shot dead Mst Izat Khatoon Mirani and Sharma Mirani in Deha Goth in the jurisdiction of PS Tamachani. They fled after committing the crime.

Later, they attacked the house of a young man Maqsood Mahar on the same pretext but the opposite party retaliated the firing which caused panic in the area. However, no one was injured or killed.

Meanwhile, bodies of women shifted by the Tamachani police to Civil Hospital Sukkur were handed over to their relatives after post-mortem.

Manzoor Mahar, father of Maqsood Mahar said that declaring his son a karo was just a tactics to pressurise the family in leaving the village.

No case was registered nor an arrest made till the filing of this report.
