KARACHI, May 6: A young activist of the Afaq Ahmed-led faction of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) was found shot dead in a Malir locality on Friday, police and party sources said.

Thirty-year-old Amir Abbas was found shot dead with a couple of bullet wounds in the head and the chest in Pak Kausar Town, said an official of the Khokhrapar police station.

“The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities where an elder brother of the victim identified him,” the official said.

He added that the victim was a resident of F-1 Area of Khokhrapar.

He worked as a conductor of local public transport, the official said.

While the police remained clueless about a motive and people behind Amir's killing, a spokesman for the Afaq Ahmed-led faction of the MQM-H said that the victim was their party activist and targeted for his political association.

The police, meanwhile, registered an FIR (88/2011) under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified suspects on a complaint of Safdar Abbas, the victim's elder brother.
