LARKANA, April 27: A 22-year-old flood-affected girl who was kidnapped from a relief camp was subjected to rape by her tormentors, then rescuers and then again tormentors and rescuers, including an SHO and a writing head constable, who took turns to keep her in detention and rape her over a period of eight months, according to the girl's lawyer.

The girl's lawyer Rafique Abro filed a petition in the Larkana circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on April 20 against DIG and DPO of Larkana, SPO and SHO of Ratodero and the SHO of Waris Dino Machi police station, Saifullah Bughio, who was accused of rape by the girl.

The court issued non-bailable warrants for the SHO on Wednesday and ordered medical examination of the girl.

Justice Imam Bakhsh Baloch adjourned the case till Thursday and directed Larkana Superintendent of Police (investigation) Rizwan Soomro to ensure the SHO was produced in the court that day.

The girl said in the petition that about eight months ago, Ismaiel Tunio, Sahib Tunio, Bachal Faqeer Tunio and Nazir Tunio barged into her tent in a relief camp in the Wapda Scarp Colony in Ratodero where she had moved from Dodapur, Jacobabad with her family after floods.

They kidnapped her at gunpoint, took her away in a car and kept her in illegal detention at a house in Sajjan Hakro village where Nazir Tunio kept raping her for more than seven months, she said.

She said that her parents looked for her and tried to seek police help but they refused to register an FIR for her disappearance. About 20 days ago, a police team led by SHO Bughio raided Nazir Tunio's house and brought her to the police station, she said.

She narrated her ordeal to the SHO, who called her parents to the police station but turned down their request to let her go with them, she said.

The SHO, instead of producing her in a court, kept her in a police quarter near the police station and kept raping her at gunpoint for 10 days, she alleged.

The SHO then handed her back to the people who had kidnapped her, Ismail Tunio, Sahib Tunio, Bachal Faqeer Tunio and Nazir Tunio, after receiving huge bribes. Nazir Tunio again detained her in a house and again subjected her to sexual assault for three days, she said.

Her parents sought help of DSP of Ratodero who asked SHO of Ratodero police station to recover her. The SHO recovered her from the Tunio's house and brought her to police station where her parents requested police to allow her to go home. But again, she was handed over to Abbas, writing head constable of the police station, who kept her detained for five days, she alleged.

After several complaints police allowed her to go with her parents on April 17 and subsequently she filed the petition on a few days later, she said.

She requested the court to order registration of an FIR against all the accused who tormented her over the period of eight months and provide security to her and her family.

When the petition was heard on April 20, the court ordered registration of a criminal case against the SHO and medical examination of the girl before adjourning the case to April 27.

But police failed to comply with court orders.
