Nine arrested

LAKKI MARWAT, April 26: Police claimed to have arrested nine anti-social elements during a raid on a local hotel in Tajazai area here on Tuesday.

Police raided the hotel on a tip-off that anti-social elements and wanted criminals were busy in gambling there. Nine persons were arrested during the raid. Two of the arrested persons identified as Zainul Abidin and Sharifullah were proclaimed offenders and wanted by police in different cases, officials said.

Police also seized two Kalashnikovs, six pistols, 340 bullets and Rs22,000 stake money from the arrested persons.

MEETING: The Jamaat-i-Islami held a meeting in Naurang town on Tuesday to chalk out a plan for agitation against arrest of its local leader Maulana Zahidullah Bettani.

The participants of the meeting said that Mr Bettani was arrested under FCR for levelling charges of corruption against political administration of Frontier Region of Lakki. They decided to hold a protest demonstration against his arrest in Tajori on April 28. —Correspondent
