Two SHOs suspended

ISLAMABAD, April 14: Two station house officers (SHOs) of the capital police were suspended for their failure to control crimes in the limit of their respective police stations.

SHO Industrial Area Inspector Mehboob Ahmad and SHO Shahzad Town Mubarak Ali were suspended and transferred to the Police Line Headquarters. They were served warning during the last meeting between the SHOs and senior police officer to review monthly crime status in the capital. The criminal activities including theft and car-lifting were on the rise in the areas and both the officers had failed to handle the situation. —Staff Reporter

Rs10m for dispensaries

RAWALPINDI, April 14: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif approved Rs10 million to upgrade 12 dispensaries to mini-hospitals in different parts of the garrison city and the work on the project would start by the end of April.

Talking to Dawn on Thursday, PML-N MPA Sheharyar Riaz said that he presented the report of sorry state of dispensaries in his constituency PP-12 and sought funds to upgrade dispensaries to lessen the load of the patients on three teaching hospitals in the city. He said the Punjab chief minister approved the project and issued the notification within two days and the work on the project would be started by the end of this month.

The dispensaries are located at Dhoke Ratta, Ratta Amral, Dhoke Hassu, Dhoke Matkal, Mohanpura, Amarpura, Sarfraz Road, Millat Colony, Akalgarh, Sirajia Park, Chamanzar Colony, Muslim Town and Telee Mohallah.—A Reporter

ISE to launch new website

ISLAMABAD, April 14: The Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) would launch its new website having comprehensive educational material regarding the stock investment procedures to assist the investors.

The website would provide mechanism for the investors to get their grievances about the stock investment redressed. It would also contain more interactive information pertaining to the securities exchange, rules and regulations, bylaws, notifications and circulars of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

The listed company’s online information regarding financial results, latest quotes, current index levels and other related information can also be accessed from the new website. — Our Reporter

Zoological conference

MUZAFFARABAD, April 14: The 31st Pakistan Zoological Conference will be held at the Zoology Department of the AJK University on Tuesday next.

The 3-day event would be attended by over 800 delegates from Pakistan and abroad, Zafar Iqbal, spokesman for the AJK University, said here on Thursday.

He said that AJK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan and Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan would be the chief guests at the opening and closing sessions respectively. — Staff Correspondent

Cases withdrawn

CHAKWAL, April 14: The cases against the accused involved in the riots in Choa Syedan Shah on January 22 have been withdrawn by the police on the recommendations of a peace committee, sources told Dawn on Thursday.

The peace committee comprising thirty members was formed following the riots for reconciliation between the two sects. The committee presented its recommendations to DPO Syed Ali Mohsin who ordered to withdraw the cases against the 218 people booked on the charges of causing sectarian clashes. More than fifty people got injured, thirty shops were set on fire while three-dozen vehicles were torched during the two-day sectarian clashes. —Correspondent

Taxi snatched

ATTOCK, April 14: A taxicab hired from Pirwidhai, Rawalpindi was snatched by three alleged car lifters in Faqirabad village near here, the police said on Thursday.

Irshad Mehmood, resident of Chakwal district reported to Hazro police station that some unknown persons hired his taxicab from Pirwadai, Rawalpindi to visit Faqirabad, Attock on Wednesday evening. On reaching near the destination, they snatched his vehicle and fled the scene. The police registered a robbery case against the alleged robbers and started investigation. — Correspondent
