THATTA, April 12: Two bandits, carrying head money of Rs1million each, were killed in an encounter near shrine of Shaikh Turabi, off National Highway on Tuesday, police said. Two of their accomplices, however, escaped.

Two Kalashnikovs, a large quantity of bullets, knives and other weapons had been recovered from heir possession.

Sources said that the outlaws were involved in the kidnapping of Dil Nawaz Khan, a nephew of president of PPP (SB) Karachi division, Nazir Khan Maddi.

Dil Nawaz was killed after his relatives failed to pay ransom to bandits. His body was found in the bushes.

Nazir Khan continued his efforts to locate the bandits and, on a tip traced them. He reached on the site along with a heavy contingent of police. DPO of Thatta Fida Mastoi accompanied them.

As per information, bandits were expected to arrive there to kidnap an industrialist from Karachi, who was scheduled to visit the shrine of Shaikh Turabi.

A brief encounter ensued which resulted in the death of bandits Yar Mohammad Aamroo alias Yaru and Khan Mohammad Katyar alias Khanu.

A large number of villagers reached on the site to take a glimpse of the dead bandits. Their bodies were removed to Makli Civil Hospital for autopsy.

These gangsters had reportedly been active mainly on the National Highway for the last couple of months.

They used to kidnap passengers and later shift them to various locations in upper Sindh and Balochistan via Khirthar mountains.
