A powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.6 hit Japan's Fukushima prefecture, exactly one month after Japan was hit by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami. It was the worst tragedy to envelop the country since World War II, however, Prime Minister Naoto Kan promised he would "never abandon" survivors of the earthquakes.
