ISLAMABAD, April 9: The director general of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Sindh chapter, Akbar Aleem Shamim was sacked on charges of corruption and other malpractices. According to a handout issued by the BISP here, the officer was not only involved in fake signatures on application forms issued by the programme but was also found involved in harassing female colleagues.
It said that the BISP was providing financial assistance to over four million women across the country, adding that the income support project had been extended to tribal areas and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The BISP is also providing financial help to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, it added.—Reporter
