ISLAMABAD, April 5: An accused reportedly involved in a bank fraud case was sent on 14-day judicial remand by the civil judge on Tuesday.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) investigator requested Civil Judge Rai Liaqat Ali Kharal that the accused Nabeel Ahmed might be sent on judicial remand so that the probe into the case might be completed.

The accused Nabeel Ahmad had committed a fraud by making a pay order of Rs26,500 of an account holder of the NIB Bank, Muhammad Liaqat, without his knowledge. The NIB Bank lodged a written complaint with the FIA about the fraud. The same accused again tried to make another pay order of Rs60,000 in the same manner. He was caught red-handed and a case was registered against him, the FIA investigation officer told the court.

During the course of the investigation, the defrauded amount of Rs26,500 was recovered from his possession. Further investigations are in progress. The FIA investigation officer requested the court that the accused was allowed to be kept in judicial custody. He also requested the court that remand papers be sent to the trial court, special court (offences in banks) Lahore.

The judge accepted the request and sent the accused on 14-day judicial remand.
