KARACHI, March 29: A young man working on a senior position in a foreign bank who went missing a couple of days ago was found dead in a car near an underpass in Nazimabad on Tuesday, police said.

They added that some area people were alerted to the car found abandoned near Eidgah ground in Nazimabad. “They later spotted the body inside the car and subsequently informed the police,” said Sub-Inspector Waqar Azeem, the official in charge of the Shamim Shaheed police post within the remit of the Nazimabad police station.

“The body was later shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.”

Meanwhile, he said, the police investigators traced the family links of the victim, who was identified as Rubabuddin through some evidence found in his possession, leading to the fact that he was a resident of an apartment on Sharea Faisal situated within the remit of the Shah Faisal Colony police station.

“When the area police were approached, it emerged that they had registered an FIR (103/2011) a couple of days back for the victim’s kidnapping on a complaint of his younger brother,” the sub-inspector added.

According to the FIR lodged with the Shah Faisal Colony police station under Sections 365 (kidnapping or abduction with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, the victim left his home on the evening of March 26 telling the family that he was going to attend a party with his friends. “However, he did not return neither could he be approached over his cellphone that caused alarm and made the family lodge the FIR,” the police said.

The sub-inspector said that an initial medical examination of the body showed that Rubabuddin was strangled to death. “We believe that he was killed somewhere else and then his body was dumped in his own car at this place just to dodge investigators about the exact location where he was murdered.”
