KALAYA, March 24: Eight militants were killed when security forces pounded suspected locations with artillery shelling in Ghiljo tehsil of Orakzai Agency on Thursday.

Officials said that security forces launched operation against militants after two soldiers were injured and their vehicle was damaged in a remote-controlled blast in the area. Curfew was also imposed in the area.

The injured security men, identified as Rehman Khattak and Mohammad Rehman Bhettani, were shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Thall in Hangu district.

Soon after the incident, security forces pounded suspected locations with heavy artillery shelling.

Sources said that security forces also recovered rocket shells and landmines during the search operation. However, Taliban denied the government's claim.—Correspondent
