ATTOCK, March 13: The Sadder police have detained the ex-husband of the B.Ed woman who was murdered at her house by unknown persons on Friday night about two months after she took up a sanitary job in the Tehsil Municipal Administration to bring up her two little sons.
Police said Syed Saqlain Abbas, who also worked in the TMA as an assistant tehsil officer, was shifted to an undisclosed location on Saturday night for investigation in the murder case.Sources said the police had received information that there was a dispute between Mr Abbas and Syeda Shaiq Shamim Akhtar since their divorce in June last year. The situation aggravated after Ms Akhter started working as a sanitary worker in the same TMA some two months back.
The sources said that a few days back Ms Akhter had occupied the house of Mr Abbas in the Akhori village and shifted there along with her two sons after she came to know about the second marriage of her ex-husband.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has taken notice of the murder of the woman and sought a report from the district police.
When contacted, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Mohammad Abbas Akhtar confirmed that the Punjab government had sought a report on the incident. He said an investigation team had been formed to arrest the killers.
In reply to a question about the arrest of the woman's ex-husband, the DPO said he was not aware of any arrest.
Meanwhile, Tehsil Municipal Officer Mubarik Ali confirmed that ATO Mr Abbas was the ex-husband of the deceased sanitary worker.— Correspondent
