An official of Khan Raziq police station said that fire was ignited owing to negligence by the family. A family member lit a candle inside a room that caused the fire, he added.

The owner of the building, Azeem Hussain, told Dawn that fire broke out in the room of his younger brother, who had lit a candle due to power loadshedding.

He said that his brother had married recently and the fire gutted all his household items completely.
