GILGIT, March 1: Seven policemen were removed from service for poor performance and negligence in duties on Tuesday. Police sources said the dismissed policemen include two head constables and five foot constables.

The sources said that two cops were from Gilgit district while five were from Armed Reserve Force. They were deployed near the scene of murder of PPP senior leader Mir Nawaz Khan advocate who was assassinated near Old Rux Cinema on Shaheed-i-Milat road a couple of days ago.

The public and social circles appreciated the action, saying, such measures would help streamline the affairs of the police force.

REHABILIATION: The Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly on Tuesday unanimously supported an adjournment motion of opposition leader Bashir Ahmed, which demanded restoration of the flood-damaged infrastructure.

The assembly members observed that drastic measures were needed to be taken for rehabilitation of the affected infrastructure.

The opposition leader said the water channels, roads, buildings and other public properties were destroyed in last year floods but no tangible efforts were made to rehabilitate these.
