MINGORA, Feb 25: Two militant commanders were killed during a search operation by the security forces in Kabal tehsil of Swat district on Friday.

The security forces launched the search operation after receiving information that some militants were trying to enter Swat from the neighbouring Lower Dir district.

During search, the security forces ordered the militants to surrender but instead they opened fire on the security forces and tried to escape. In the retaliatory fire, both the militants were killed. They were later identified as Abdul Kabeer and Gul Anwar.

MAN BURNT ALIVE: A man was burnt to death after fire erupted in a house in the Charbagh area of Swat late on Thursday night.

Residents said that the shelter house of Anwarullah caught fire during the night that reduced everything to ashes. The victim, identified as Malang Said Mohammad, was staying as a guest at the house.

KIDNAPPED GIRL: The family of a kidnapped girl has complained that the district administration was not taking interest in the recovery of the girl. Saira Bibi, 13, had been kidnapped four months ago.

Speaking at a press conference at Swat press club here on Friday, girl’s uncles Fazal Mabood and Yousaf Jan and brother Nisar Khan said that a woman, who lived next door, had a hand in the disappearance of the girl. They said that they had reported the incident to the Devalai police station, but the police high-ups were using delaying tactics to recover the girl.

They appealed to the provincial government and other concerned authorities to extend help to them to recover the girl safely.
