LAKKI MARWAT, Feb 24: Flood affected residents of different union councils staged a protest demonstration on Thursday against the officials of Nadra 'for using delaying tactics and demanding bribe for issuing Watan Cards'.

The government has set up a facility in town hall of Lakki city to facilitate flood victims to get their Watan Cards. On Thursday, a good number of affected people from Begukhel and Darra Tang union councils visited the centre where officials reportedly used delaying tactics in provision of Watan Cards.

The unbecoming and impolite attitude of the officials enraged the flood survivors who took out a protest procession from the town hall. The protesters marched on Lakki-Tajazai and Lakki-Darra Tang roads.

“The use of delaying tactics on part of officials concerned has made getting Watan Cards a hard nut to crack for the flood victims,” they said, alleging the affected people were being compelled to pay bribe for getting the cards.

Later, police assured the protesters that the administration would make all out efforts to facilitate them in getting the Watan Cards without any difficulty.

TMA MEETING: Officials of Lakki TMA, at a meeting on Thursday, chalked out a plan for bringing improvement in provision of service delivery to the citizens, increasing income generation resources and monitoring of the uplift schemes. Tehsil administrator Qalam Badshah Khattak presided over the meeting.

The meeting also discussed matters pertaining to expanding tax net, fixing rent of TMA's owned shops, computerisation of accounts and taxation related record and implementation of building laws.

OUTLAWS HELD: Police claimed on Thursday to have arrested several hardened criminals in a search operation.

An official said the operation was launched in Samandi, Pezu, Langerkhel Surband, Mastikhani, Chowki Jand, Tajazai and Titterkhel localities.

He said police also seized four pistols, five shotguns, a dagger, a good number of bullets and a stolen car from the anti-social elements.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed over a blood feud in Kherukhel Pakka village in the jurisdiction of Ghaznikhel police station. The accused Sattar Khan and his brother Multan reportedly shot and killed Akhtar Munir Khan and managed to escape, said an official.

The official quoted complainant Nazir Mohammad, father of the deceased, as stating in the FIR that a blood feud his family had with the accused party was recently settled.

Meanwhile, a pickup truck ran over a herd of animals, killing 21 sheep and wounding 32 others near Darra Tang, said a police official on Thursday.

The official said one Sardar, a resident of Wana, was grazing his cattle on a roadside when a speeding pickup hit the herd.
