LANDI KOTAL, Feb 14: Unidentified persons killed a khasadar in Khyber Agency on the night between Sunday and Monday while four bullet-riddled bodies were found in Karak district on Monday.

Sources said that Afzal Afridi, an official of Khasadar Force, and his colleagues completed their routine patrolling of Landi Kotal Bazaar in Khyber Agency when he was attacked by unidentified gunmen.

He died on the spot and the attackers managed to escape in the darkness, they said. No body has so far claimed responsibility for his murder.

In Bara, Abdul Qayum, a worker of an NGO, received critical bullet injuries when he was fired at in Alamgudar area.

In another incident, Taliban torched the house of a commander of Lashkar-i-Islam in Akakhel area. Taliban and LI activists in Akkakhel are at loggerheads with each other for a long time.

Meanwhile, three activists of a banned group received injuries when their vehicle was targeted with a roadside explosive device at Sarki Qamar in Qambarkhel area of Bara. The vehicle belonged to Haji Namdar group.

In another incident, three persons were critically injured when they tried to foil kidnapping bid of a local transporter on Monday. Sources said that masked men riding in tented glasses vehicle tried to abduct Haroon, a transporter, at Meerdad Khel area but locals resisted the attempt.

Sensing danger, the kidnappers opened firing on the locals and injured three of them. The tribesmen, however, managed to rescue Haroon.

In Karak district, four bullet-riddled bodies of unidentified persons were found at a deserted place on Monday.

Police said that letters were also found with two bodies. The letters said that they had been killed for spying for Indian and Israeli intelligence agencies. —Dawn Report
