UMERKOT, Feb 8: A kidnapped trader was recovered from the Achhro Thar area of Sanghar district on Tuesday, according to DPO of Umerkot Mohammad Ali Baloch.

Speaking at a press conference at the residence of the trader, Sarwan Kumar, the DPO claimed that he had been recovered after an encounter with the kidnappers and four suspects had been arrested in the kidnapping case.

However, he refused to mention the place where the encounter had taken place or present the arrested suspects before journalists.

The DPO said Zaman Panhwar was the mastermind of the kidnapping incident. Source said that police arrested Allah Bux Panhwar, nephew of Zaman, from Tando Ghulam Ali three days ago which led to the arrest of Zaman.

The DPO said that the trader had gone to Hyderabad for medical check-up. “He is not feeling well because the kidnapers made him walk for long distances and did not provide him proper food,” the DPO said.

Traders' leader Seth Tulsi Das announced Rs500,000 award for the DPO for his efforts to ensure safe recovery of Sarwan Kumar and Rs100,000 for journalists for highlighting the kidnapping case in the media.

Sarwan Kumar was going to Samaro from here in a bus on January 29 which was intercepted by a black car at Moto Malhi stop.

Four armed occupants of the car disembarked him from the bus and took him away in the car.
