SUKKUR, Feb 1: Thatta and Rohri police seized stolen medicines worth more than five million rupees in a raid on a godown in the village of Rajab Ali Dayo near Rohri and arrested godown owner Ramesh Kumar on Monday.

According to reports, a trailer loaded with a large quantity of live-saving medicines was going to Afghanistan from Karachi on Dec 29, 2010. When it reached in the Loni Kot police jurisdiction near Thatta, a gang of armed persons intercepted the vehicle and drove it away, leaving the driver and cleaner behind.

A case was had been registered at Loni Kot police station.

On Monday, a police team led by DSP Jhirk (district Thatta) Manzoor Laki, SHO Loni Kot Asghar Ali Shah and SHO Rohri Tahir Hussain Mughal conducted the raid in the godown of Ramesh Kumar in and recovered the drugs.

Police told reporters that with the help of a tracker installed in the trailer, District police of Thatta had conducted a raid on a godown of Nadeem Qureshi in Hyderabad and found the trailer parked there.

During the investigation, Nadeem told police that the medicines were shifted to Rohri in different vehicles.

Police came to Rohri with the representatives of the Medicines Company and Nadeem Qureshi and conducted the raid.
