KARACHI, Jan 31: A policeman posted at the residence of a senior police officer on security duty was gunned down in Liaquatabad on Monday, police said. They added that police constable Asif, 33, was shot dead near his house in Liaquatabad No 8. He was returning home after purchasing some household stuff from a shop near Ghausia Masjid when two men riding a motorbike targeted him.

“He suffered a couple of gunshot wounds each in the head and chest and died on the spot,” said an official at the Liaquatabad police station. “The body was handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.”

The official said that the victim, son of Rafiq, was posted at the residence of a senior police official for security duty for the last several months. Investigators found spent bullet casings of a 9mm pistol from the crime scene, the official added.
