ANP DEFEAT IN SHANGLA: A local leader of Awami National Party Saifullah Khan of Gandi Khankhel has demanded of the party central chief Asfandyar Wali Khan to take note of the party's defeat in Shangla by-poll and take steps to bridge the gap between workers and leaders.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday he said that the defeat clearly indicated the followers of late Bacha Khan and Khan Abdul Wali Khan had been ignored during the three years old ANP-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He suggested that the party high command should form a committee headed by central chief Asfandyar Wali Khan to look into the plight of ANP staunch activists and Khudai Khidmatgars and to assess that what had been done for their betterment and well-being during the last three years.

“The ANP workers suffered atrocities in the previous government but did not compromise on their ideology”, he maintained, saying that the elements with vested interests had occupied key positions in the

ANP-led government and were trying to create misunderstandings between the party leadership and workers.

“We should learn a lesson from the defeat in Shangla by-elections”, he said and called upon Asfandyar Wali Khan to play his role for bringing workers and leaders closer.
