MIRAMSHAH, Jan 23: Thirteen people were killed and three others injured when US drones carried out three attacks in North Waziristan on Sunday.

Sources said that a drone fired two missiles on a car in Asar Ismailkhel area of Dattakhel tehsil, 45km west of here, killing four people travelling in it.

Three people were riding a motorcycle when a drone targeted it in Khar Kamar area. The drone fired three missiles, killing the three men, the area residents said.

The third attack by the unmanned aircraft left six suspected militants dead and three others injured in Mandukhel area between North and South Waziristan. According to sources, four missiles hit a residential compound and a car, killing six suspects and injuring three others.

Demonstration

A large number of tribesmen held a demonstration in Mirali town in protest against drone attacks in the region.

The protesters, a majority of them carrying arms, marched on roads and raised slogans against the United States and its allies.

They threatened that tribal people would march on Islamabad if the drone attacks were not halted.

The protest was led by Malik Abdul Hakeem, Sher Ali and Maulana Mohammad Kaleem.
