NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 15: A police constable was caught trying to kidnap a six-year-old girl while she was playing outside her home near Government Degree College here on Saturday.

Azeema’s screams brought her father Munawar Ali Shah and some neighbours running to her rescue. They caught the policeman Qamaruddin Solangi and handed him over to police.

An official at the Naushahro Feroze police station confirmed that the accused was a constable and an FIR had been registered against him under sections 363, 34 PPC.

ARRESTS: Naushahro Feroze police arrested on Saturday 16 people on charges of stealing 53 railway tracks near Manahin village.

The accused were residents of Sukkur, Khairpur and Nawabshah and were handed over to Sadhoja police along with recovered tracks and a truck.

SHO Mohammad Hayat Chandio said that an FIR had been lodged against the accused under section 379 PPC and 127 Railways Act.

PROTEST: About 150 students of Ghulam Akbar Lashari primary school along with their parents took out a procession and held a demonstration in Kotri Kabir on Saturday, demanding construction of classrooms and appointment of teachers in the school.

The protesters led by Maryam, Iqra Naz, Samreen, Ateeqa and their parents said that there were more than 150 boys and girls in the school who were getting education in the open. There were only two classrooms which collapsed five years ago and only two teachers, they said.
