GHALANAI/KHAR/KOHAT, Jan 11: A girl was killed when a shell landed in the residential area after militants attacked a checkpost in Mohmand tribal region on Tuesday. Sources said that militants attacked a security post in Ali Zaman Ghudai area of the tribal region of early on Tuesday morning with heavy weapons.

Security forces repulsed the attack and targeted militant hideouts from Ghalanai and Mamad Gat FC camp with artillery. However, no causality was reported.One of the stray shells fell on the house of Amanullah, killing his 13-year-old old daughter. The shell also destroyed the house.

Security forces also defused a landmine, planted by militants in Ghaiba Khwar near Mian Mandi bazaar in Haleemzai tehsil. The security personnel cordoned off the area and started search operation soon after the incident. Eleven people of Hamzakhel tribe were arrested under collective responsibility clause of FCR.

In Bajaur Agency, six pro-government tribal elders were injured in a roadside explosion on Tuesday.

Officials said that Malak Raidi, Malak Abdul Khaliq, Malak Rahmat Gul, Malak Jumma Gul, Malak Hussian Gul, Malak Bakht Munir and a driver were going to Bajaur Scouts Fort.

When they reached Katkot area of tehsil Loe Mamond a remote-controlled bomb exploded. As result all the six elders were injured and the vehicle was damaged partially.

The injured were rushed to a hospital in Khar. According to sources, the condition of Malak Raidi Gul was critical. No group ahs claimed responsibility for the incident.

Meanwhile, a gunman and driver of a prominent tribal elder, killed in an attacked on house, were laid to rest in their ancestral graveyard in Hangu district on Monday.

Militants had attacked the house of tribal elder in Gulshan Abad with automatic weapons as result he and his gunman, Nasrullah and driver Laiq Khan were killed.
