MANY CSS aspirants have been in a quandary due to the inaction of the incumbent government regarding the CSS age limit extension. In developed countries there are no age discrimination rules for civil services examinations but, unlike developed nations, in Pakistan the privilege of age relaxation is reserved only for the candidates belonging to certain areas while those candidates who apply on open merit are deprived of it.
Why is it always the open merit that becomes the ultimate victim when it comes to competence and competitiveness?
I request President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and FPSC Chairman Justice (Retd) Rana Bhagwandas to abolish the discriminatory age laws and raise the age limit to 32 years and basic qualifications to 16 years of education for CSS examinations.
