THATTA, Jan 7: Iran has reaffirmed its pledge to continue flood relief efforts until internally-displaced people (IDPs) were completely rehabilitated and devastated areas restored.

Irans Consul-General in Karachi Ali Abbas Hayee expressed this resolve on behalf of his country to reporters after meeting legislators and Thatta's district administration on Friday following a visit to flood-affected areas.

“The objective of my visit is to furnish a comprehensive report about the rehabilitation of IDPs to my government which would be followed by construction of model houses and establishment of health facilities and water supply schemes in flood-hit villages,” he said.

Iranian government firmly believes in helping Muslim brethren during crucial time and its people would assist in bailing Pakistani population out of its present crisis, said Ali Abbas Hayee.

Sindh Minister for Flood-Hit Areas' Rehabilitation Programme Muzaffar Shujra accompanied the Iranian Consulate General. He said to journalists that Iran was a friend to Pakistani in all times. International donor agencies and NGOs were striving with the government for the restoration of damaged infrastructure in flood-torn areas.
