ISLAMABAD, Dec 28: The chargé d'affaires of Denmark was deprived of Rs18,000 here on Tuesday, police said.

Johan Jacob, who is also the acting ambassador of Denmark in Pakistan, was returning home in his private vehicle after visiting a shop at Super Market when he was intercepted by four persons riding in a white car with a police revolving light.

The car riders introduced themselves as policemen and told the diplomat that they wanted to search him and his vehicle. However, Mr Jacob did not allow them saying he was the acting ambassador of Denmark and had diplomatic immunity.

On this, the car riders asked him to produce his identity cards. As the diplomat took out his wallet, the culprits snatched it and sped away.

Mr Jacob said the wallet contained Rs18,000 and identity cards. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
