ATTOCK, Dec 24: The Kamra Cantonment Board has approached the district police for registration of a criminal case against a fake housing society for claiming that the board had issued a no-objection certificate for development of a project on a private land near Golf Club Kamra.

Sources said Executive Officer Cantonment Board Kamra in a letter informed the district police that the so-called developers of the fake housing society had published a pamphlet and an advertisement claiming that the board had issued NOC for launching of the project.

“This act on part of the so-called developers amounts to wrongful representation in order to defraud and attract the potential buyers of land and sell the property on highly inflated prices,” said the board authorities. The board said neither it had issued any NOC to the so-called housing society nor any development work had been initiated at the site/land as claimed in the pamphlet/advertisement.

The letter explained that under the cantonment laws, no individual or group can start any construction on private land within the cantonment limit or advertise about it without prior approval of the board.

Meanwhile, sources said the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra had also started a probe into the attempts by some people to develop a housing scheme adjacent to its golf club which was a very sensitive area.

When contacted, Tehsil Municipal Administrator Mubarik Ali said after coming across the advertisement about the housing scheme, the TMA had informed the authorities of Kamra Cantonment Board to investigate the matter.

Executive Officer Cantonment Board Kamra Omar Farooq Ali Malik told this correspondent that he visited the site and found that it was a bogus scheme aimed only to deceive the people.

He said the cantonment authorities had also published an advertisement in the national press warning the public not to invest in the fake housing scheme.

To a question, he said they had so far not received any response from the police regarding registration of the case against the persons behind the fake housing society.
