MIRPURKHAS, Dec 12: Police arrested on Sunday another suspect in the murder case of journalist Sultan Mehmood Chandio and impounded vans owned by the four chief accused, who were still at large.

Sources said that police were detaining friends and employees of the accused Aleem Kaimkhani, Saleem Kaimkhani, Waseem Kaimkhani and Nadeem Kaimkhani, all brothers and transporters by profession, to mount pressure on them and other suspects to surrender.

In addition to the fresh arrest, police have already picked up about six people who are being interrogated at the police station.

President of Mirpurkhas press club Sultan Mehmood Chandio was gunned down at Al Imran town on Dec 5 by two armed motorcyclists. His relative Barkat Ali Chandio lodged an FIR and nominated the brothers as chief accused.

A member of investigation team said on condition of anonymity that the deceased journalist was reportedly involved in a clash between two groups of transporters at new bus terminal a few weeks ago.
