KASUR, Dec 6: An exchange of fire between a gang of 15 dacoits and villagers claimed the life of a robber here on Monday at Dhala Kalan village in the limits of Khudian police station.

Reports said 15 dacoits stormed into the house of Sarwar. On raising an alarm, villagers from the neighbourhood rushed to the house of Sarwar. On seeing the people, the dacoits opened fire. During an exchange of fire, one of the dacoits, yet to be identified, was killed. The remaining accused managed their escape.

Police have registered a case and claimed that the dacoit was killed by a bullet of his accomplice. KILLED:

Eight dacoits killed a person and took away gold, cash and valuables worth Rs200,000 here on Monday at Mudhke-Dhariwal in Kot Radha Kishan police precincts.

Reports said the dacoits forced their entry into the house of Haider Ali and held the family hostage. On resistance, one of the accused hit Haider on the head with an iron rod, killing him on the spot.

The dacoits took away three-tola gold ornaments, eight-tola silver, cell phones, Rs10,000 and other valuables. ROBBERIES:

Four dacoits on Monday entered the house of Rasheed of Shamkot in the limits of Kanganpur police and took away gold, cash and valuables worth Rs0.8 million.

The robbers scaled the wall of the house and held the family hostage. They made off with 15-tola gold ornaments, Rs100,000, two cell phones and other valuables.

Three robbers held up cashier Salim and security guard Ashraf of a filling station on Ferozpur Road and took away Rs400,000.
