SUKKUR, Dec 5: Two farmers died and another suffered injuries when they resisted a group of armed men who were trying to kidnap them in the Adilpur area of Ghotki district on Sunday. Rahim Kalwar, Abdul Hafeez Kalwar and Sikander Bhayo had gone to irrigate their field near the village of Khonhara when they were attacked by the kidnappers. When the farmers resisted, the men opened fire.

As a result, Rahim Kalwar, 60, and Sikander Bhayo, 30, were killed on the spot while Abdul Hafeez Kalwar was injured.

Relatives of the farmers blocked Ghotki-Khanpur Mahar road near the village. They raised slogans and demanded arrest of the assailants.

DSP Ghotki Ghulam Qadir Brohi tried to end the blockade but the protesters refused to disperse.

Later, they ended the blockade when SP Investigation Yar Mohammad Rind talked to them and assured them that the attackers would be arrested soon.
