KASUR, Dec 5: Police on Sunday rescued a 15-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped for ransom and was chained to a tree at an outhouse by his kidnappers in Jugal village. According to police, Muhammad Ashiq of Jugal village informed Emergency 15 that Khalil Ahmed and his (Khalil's) brother Jamil, with the help of three unidentified accomplices, kidnapped his son, Asif Ali, from his house.

The complainant said the accused had detained the boy at an outhouse in the same village and were demanding Rs0.5 million for his release.

On receiving information, Illahabad police station SHO Mulik Tariq and Talwandi post in charge Muhammad Yaseen, along with a police party, raided the outhouse of Khalil and recovered the boy who was chained to a tree.

The police arrested Khalil while his accomplices managed their escape.

However, the SHO claimed the boy was kidnapped over a money dispute and the allegation of ransom seemed to be false.

He said as Ashiq, the complainant, was avoiding police, no case had been registered yet.

RAID: Mandi Usmanwala police claim to have recovered 1.5kg heroin, 70 litre liquor, and illegal weapons in a raid at Daokay Kalan village.

According to the police, SHO Muhammad Aslam, along with a team, raided the house of Kali Tali and recovered 1.5kg heroin, 70 bottles of imported liquor and unlicensed weapons.

According to the SHO, the accused and his accomplices managed their escape as they had already got information about the raid. He said an FIR had been entered against the accused and raids were on for their arrest.

SUICIDE: A woman and her daughter committed suicide over a domestic issue in Mustafabad Town here on Saturday night.

Reports said Sughra Bibi, 35, and her daughter Anam, 15, took poison following an exchange of hard words over a petty issue.

Ramzan took his wife and daughter to the rural health centre from where they were referred to Lahore General Hospital where they died on Sunday.

The police are investigating.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed while six other people were injured in a road accident on Ganda Singh Road near Darbar Baba Kamal Chishti in the limits of Sadar police station on Sunday.

Safdar was going on a motorcycle when a tractor-trolley coming from the opposite side hit him near Darbar Baba Kamal Chishti.

A rickshaw following the motorcycle also collided with the tractor-trolley. Safdar died on the spot while six people -- rickshaw driver Akram, Tauqeer, 12, Mehvish, 10, Safdar Bhatti, Ghulam Yasin and Ashiq Ali -- sustained serious injuries. The injured people were taken to DHQ Hospital.
