GUJAR KHAN, Dec 5: The police have busted a gang of criminals who were allegedly involved in car snatching after killing their drivers, claimed City Police Officer Rawalpindi Wasal Fakhar Sultan on Sunday.

Speaking at a news conference at Rawat police station, he said on December 2 some criminals snatched a yellow cab after killing its driver Mohammad Tahir Qureshi at Rawat. As the incidents of car snatching increased alarmingly in the area, he added, the police formed a special team to trace the culprits.

He said during a raid in Charsadda, the police team busted the six-member gang. The gang members were identified as Mirza Faheem, the ring leader; Younis Zahid Hafeez, Babar Ishaq, Misal Khan alias Sheena and Tariq Mehmood.

The police have recovered the snatched yellow cab along with the registration documents and cellphone of the victim driver Tahir Qureshi. The CPO said the gang had confessed to snatching a yellow cab (JMB-2595) from Haji Maskeen of Morgah area after killing him. According to the CPO, two 30-bore pistols, 12 rounds and other weapons were recovered from the possession of the outlaws.
