PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani said that the people of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa have shown determination and commitment combating terrorism and facing natural calamities particularly the recent devastating floods.

The Prime Minister was talking to the Governor Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Owais Ahmed Ghani and Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti at the Governor's House on Tuesday.

The Prime Minster arrived here, on a day long visit to meet the party workers on the occasion of 43rd anniversary of PPP.

The government, he said, has the firm resolve to eliminate terrorism and extremism and would ensure all possible measures to provide security to the people.

The government would assist the flood victims as promised and would accelerate the rehabilitation and reconstruction so that life in the affected areas returns to normalcy.

The Prime Minister asked the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa government to take strict measures to check price-hike through district price committees so that the common man does not suffer and to accelerate the process of completing development projects.

Governor Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Owais Ahmad Ghani briefed the Prime Minster on the security situation in the province in general and FATA in particular. He also briefed him on the progress of development projects in FATA.

The Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti apprised the PM on the progress of relief efforts in the flood affected areas of the province.

Earlier, on arrival at Peshawar Heliport, the PM was received by the Governor, Chief Minister and senior Ministers.

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Syed Naveed Qamar were present on the occasion.
