TAXILA, Nov 28: Villagers overpowered four robbers in village Pour Miana in the jurisdiction of Hassanabdal police on Sunday.

Police said four masked men equipped with different weapons scaled the walls of Haji Anees Kashmiri's house and made the family members hostage.

As they started looting the house, the family members voiced alarm forcing the intruders to flee.

Some villagers followed the robbers but the latter opened fire into the air.

In the meantime, announcements were made through mosque loudspeakers after which more people gathered and caught the bandits. Later, the residents handed them over to police.

The accused were identified as Riasat Khan, Tahir Khan, Manan Khan and Khista Gul.

A case has been registered against them.
