CHAKWAL, Nov 23: Mohammad Asim, 25, who was allegedly kidnapped on September 29, was found on Monday night.
According to relatives of Asim, kidnappers had thrown him near Khaiwal village, some 15 kilometres from Chakwal city, at 8pm on Monday.
“We received a call about Asim lying unconscious at the spot. We found his hands and feet bound,” his uncle Riazuddin said.
Asim was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Asim told Dawn that his kidnappers tortured and sexually abused him. He underwent a medical check up but police said it had not received the report yet.
Asim said he came to Chakwal on September 29 to settle “a dispute over vehicle” with Ghulam Shabeer, a resident of Dhok Feroz in Chakwal city.
“At his home, after taking tea I fainted. When I regained senses, I found myself tied in a room at unknown place,” says Asim.
He said his “kidnappers” did not demand any ransom. “When I asked them what they wanted, they replied they were bound to obey orders of Shabeer and Mirza Azam.” He said during captivity, he was told his father had been shot dead. “I was shocked. I worried about my mother and sisters. They had not killed my father and it was part of their torture.”
Asim said on Monday his abductors put him into a vehicle and after a two-hour drive threw him near Khaiwal village. He added the kidnappers thrashed him before leaving him unconscious by the roadside.
Zaheer Ahmad, father of Asim, said the police were supporting Shabeer and Mirza Azam, a former inspector, and have termed the kidnapping a 'drama'. He said they had no enmity with anyone except a vehicle dispute with Shabeer.
Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Shoaib Hayat Khar told Dawn that Shabeer was already on judicial remand. “The real culprit would be brought to justice soon,” he said.
