QUETTA, Nov 21: Four people were gunned down in Mand Blo town on the Iranian border on Sunday. Two people suffered injuries.
According to official sources, the victims had illegally entered the town from Iran along with four women and two children about an hour before the attack.They insisted that they were Iranian nationals and spoke Persian, but national identity cards found in their possession showed that they belonged to Lahore and Faisalabad. They did not have any travel documents.
“Investigation is under way to confirm their nationality,” Balochistan Home Secretary Akbar Durrani said.
The deputy commissioner of Kech was quoted as saying that all the people killed and injured were Iranian nationals.
Sources said that 13 people were in the waiting room of a transport company for going to Karachi when two men on a motorcycle opened fire on them.
The injured were taken to the Turbat civil hospital.
“Four women, an old man and two children escaped unhurt,” the sources said. The assailants fled after the attack.
Mohammad Nadeem, Hasan and Sikandar (of Lahore, according to the identity cards) and Mohammad Naeem (of Faisalabad) were killed and Mohammad Wasim Ahmed and Khalil Ahmed (of Faisalabad) were injured.
The survivors were taken to a safe place in Mand Blo.
The home secretary said the incident was being investigated from all aspects.
However, the town's administrator Mohammad Rafiq termed the incident “target killing”.
“The injured will face legal action for entering Pakistan without travel documents,” he said.
