KARACHI, Nov 15: A young man was shot dead in Azizabad in the early hours of Monday, police said.
They said the victim, identified as Tauseef alias Guddu Chamri, was sitting with his friends in a camp set up for sacrificial animals, when two men on a motorbike stopped near the facility, near Memon Masjid in Siddiqabad.
“One of the motorcyclists got off, pulled out a 9mm pistol and fired multiple shots targeting Tauseef,” said an official at the Azizabad police station. “He sustained two bullet wounds and died on the spot. The attackers escaped and the body was later moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.”
The police said the victim was a resident of the same area and had been associated with a betting den running in the area. They said the killing seemed the result of personal enmity. Cattle trader beaten to death A clash between two groups at a temporary cattle market set up along the Superhighway claimed the life of a trader and left at least two persons injured, police said.
They said the traders from the interior of Sindh developed a dispute with a group of youngsters supplying water to the market that led to a serious exchange of hot words and brawl.
“After an hour or so, the youngsters assembled their aides and attacked the camp of the traders using sticks and stones,” said an official at the Sachal police station. “One of the traders, Arvi, sustained serious head injuries and died while being shifted to hospital. One of his aides, Meer Muhammad, was also injured in the attack.”
The dead victim hailed from Ghotki, said the police official, adding that the policed picked up five suspects after the incident and they were being interrogated.
