By Our Staff Correspondent
FAISALABAD, Feb 15: Federal Minister for Textile Industry Rana Farooq Saeed said on Sunday the government would announce a relief package for textile and a five-year textile policy.
At a textile seminar ‘National strategy for textile industry’ organised by the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) on Saturday night at the association office, Mr Saeed said the police would incorporate the measures to resolve the prevailing textile crisis. He said the government would also introduce advanced schemes for all the textile sectors from cotton growing to value-added exports.
He said there was dearth of skilled labour in the sector and the government has started a training programme for the processing, spinning and other textile sectors. He said 300 women had been trained under the program.
The minister said series of seminars are being held to discuss textile-related problems. He said after completion of these consultations a comprehensive textile policy would be finalised wherein the interests of all textile sectors would be protected.
PTEA Chairman Muhammad Yousaf demanded cut in mark-up of bank loans, smooth flow of electricity and gas, reduction in energy cost, reduction in cost of production, market access to developed countries, zero-rating of exports and level playing field.
