Three ‘robbers’ killed in ‘encounter’

OKARA, Feb 15: Police killed three alleged robbers in an ‘encounter’ in Azeemabad locality early on Sunday morning. A police constable was injured in the encounter.

Three robbers barged in Kashif Muneer’s house in Azeemabad and held his family hostage. The family raised hue and cry and the robbers started firing in the air. Neighbours woke up and informed the rescue police. Police reached the scene and came face to face with the fleeing robbers in the street. The robbers opened fire at the police.

The police returned the fire and killed the three robbers at the scene. Police constable Saifullah was injured in the encounter, which continued for half-an-hour. He was taken to the district hospital from where he was sent to a Lahore hospital.

Police found three pistols and a rifle on the robbers identified as ringleader Mohammad Nadeem of Mansoorabad, Mohammad Shoban of 2/4L and Shamsulhaq of Jesoke, Hujra Shah Muqeem.
