By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Feb 15: Hundreds of workers of different political parties and peasant and labour organisations took out a motor rally from Daharki to Ghotki on Sunday to protest against the arrest of Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party leader Jam Abdul Fatah Samejo by Punjab police in what they termed in a fake murder case.

The protestors, belonging to the STP, Sindh National Front, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaaz, Sindh United Party, Sindh Hari Committee and Porhiat Union, on motorcycles, cars, wagons, tractor trolleys and buses started the 35-km-long rally from Daharki and drove all the way to Ghotki, where they staged a demonstration, a sit-in at Pepul Chowk amid slogans against Punjab police.

Addressing the protestors, Zahid Mirani, Khalid Lakho and others slammed Punjab police for arresting Mr Samejo in a fake murder case and said that those who raise voice for the rights of Sindh and Sindhis, are being treated like criminals.

They said that the aliens have always looted and plundered resources of Sindh and added that local people are denied jobs in factories run by multi-national companies in Ghotki. They said that Mr Samejo was being punished for the crime of raising objections over recruitment of outsiders in these MNCs.

They said that Mr Samejo always raised voice against the atrocities, to which Sindhi people are being subjected to, therefore, Punjab police have booked and arrested him in a fake murder case.

They warned to block the National Highway indefinitely from Tuesday if Mr Samejo was not released by Monday.

Later, the protestors dispersed peacefully.

JUI DEMO: Dozens of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) activists staged a demonstration at Clock Tower roundabout here on Sunday to protest against the killing of 35 students of a seminary in a missile attack in Waziristan.

Speaking on the occasion, local JUI-F leader Maulana Abdul Haq Mahar condemned US drone attack in Waziristan. Terming drone attacks against the integrity and solidarity of Pakistan, they said that it was an act of terrorism and demanded of the government of Pakistan to officially condemn drone attacks.
