Three doctors missing

KHAIRPUR, Feb 15: Three doctors went missing while they were going to Ghotki from Hyderabad two days ago. Their car was found abandoned in Lakhi Ghulam Shah area of the district.
Their relatives told this correspondent that Dr Altaf Soomro, Dr Siraj Dahar and Dr Ali Hassan had gone to Jamshoro to attend a workshop on polio. Mumtaz Dahar, brother of Dr Siraj, told journalists that he was in touch with his brother through cellphone till the three doctors crossed Ranipur area.
However, Khairpur police denied that the three doctors were kidnapped in Khairpur district because their car was found from Shikarpur district.
Dr Siraj Dahar belongs to Ubaura town, Dr Altaf Soomro from Dad Leghari whereas Dr Ali Hassan belongs to Ghotki district.
FREED: Kidnappers freed four kidnap victims in the kutcha area on Saturday evening. After their release they were brought to the DPO office.
Karim Dino Ghumro, Tariq Kolachi, Abdul Qadir and Sikandar Sehto were kidnapped on Oct 4, 2008 when they were going to Soomar Khan Ghumro village from Khuhra in a car to attend a wedding ceremony.
Khairpur investigation SP Ghulam Akbar Wagan while talking to journalists claimed that the hostages were freed by kidnappers due to the mounting police pressure as the police carried out an operation in kutcha area.
The freed people said that their kidnappers released them near Tajo Dero of kutcha area. They said that the kidnappers told them that the police had arrested some of their relatives due to which they were releasing them.
CANAL BREACH: Lalan Wah developed a 20-feet wide breach near Ahmedpur, Kingri taluka on Sunday morning damaging wheat and vegetables crops.
The growers said that the irrigation officials were informed but they did not reach the scene.
Later, the breach was plugged on self-help basis by the growers.
