Avalanche kills two

GILGIT, Feb 15: Two people were killed after being hit by an avalanche when they were busy in the work for restoration of a water channel in the Shamran village of Phander valley in Ghizer district on Sunday.
According to district officials, some persons were repairing the water channel which was damaged by heavy snowfall coupled with rains. Due to damage, the electricity was suspended and people were working for restoration of the channel on self-help-basis.
The officials said local volunteers were busy to retrieve the bodies but so far they could not succeed. The victims are stated to be Gul Latif and Sauj Shamarn.
