Two alleged outlaws killed in shootout

NAROWAL, Dec 30: Two alleged outlaws were killed in a 10-hour shootout with police in Harar village in Murida police precincts on Tuesday.

Farooq Ahmed, alias Rana, and Muhammad Nawaz, alias Pappu, were wanted in many theft, dacoity and murder cases.

On a tip-off, the police raided the residence of two brothers and directed them to surrender. The outlaws refused and instead opened fire on the police which retaliated and both the outlaws were killed in the ensuing shootout.

Shakargarh DSP Muhammad Hussain said that no policeman was injured in the shootout that continued for 10 hours.

The police also fired teargas shells to overpower the outlaws alive but they resisted till they were killed. security: As much as 1,000 constables and 200 police officers have been deputed to guard 800 majalis and 200 mourning processions besides army and rangers personnel have been deployed as reserve force to tackle any untoward situation during Muharram.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, DPO Tariq Rustam Chohan said that entry of Maulana Nawaz Baloch, Shafique Pasruri and Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi in the district had been banned. District Nazim Narowal Dr. Niamat Ali Javaid was also present there. The DPO urged leaders of all sects to show patience and brotherhood during the holy month. He advised all motorcycle owners to carry registration papers of their bikes along with them to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.

He urged member of peace committees to play their positive role in keeping the atmosphere peaceful throughout the month.
