KARACHI: Changes in curriculum soon, says minister
KARACHI, Dec 30: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq has said that necessary changes will be made in the academic curriculum to cater to modern requirements.
The minister said that historical heritage, which had been neglected in the past, would be made part of the new curriculum.
Besides, environment, traffic, computer science and various other subjects would be inducted in the new curriculum, he said. The minister said that literary gatherings were also important for promotion of education.
Pir Mazhar expressed these views while addressing a condolence reference and Mushaira to observe the first death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, at Government College of Commerce and Economics. He said the best way to pay tribute to her was to follow her policies and vision.
He reiterated that the process of taking all the political parties on board would be continued according to the reconciliatory policy of Ms Bhutto.
Chief guest and Third World Solidarity chairman Mushtaq Lashari sharing his 30-year relationship with Ms Bhutto said that besides being a good politician, she was a good mother, a good wife and a good daughter.
He said that it was essential to openly debate on key personalities like Ms Bhutto, which was another source of education.
Director Colleges Rafiq Ahmed Siddiqui paying tribute to her said, “We can make society progressive and prosperous by following her teachings.”
Rasa Chugtai, Jazib Qureshi, Baba Najmi, Sarwar Javed, Perveen Rajpur and other poets recited their poems on the occasion.—PPI
